Stray Kids will release their second full album 'NOEASY' on August 23, 2021.
After winning Mnet's 'Kingdom: Legendary War' (hereafter 'Kingdom') in June, Stray Kids is set to consolidate their status as a K-pop trendsetter with their first album of the year, 'NOEASY'. Having previously demonstrated the essence of the 'spicy genre' with the first full album 'GO LIVE' (고생) title track 'God’s Menu' (神메뉴) and the repackage album 'IN LIFE' (인생) title track 'Back Door' (백 도어), they aim for higher popularity and growth with their richer second full album.
'NOEASY' is an album that continues Stray Kids' unique way of communicating with the world, moving beyond conventional norms and creating new expressions. Known for their clever wordplay and wit, they send a bold message to those who offer unsolicited advice, embodying the assertiveness of the MZ generation.
The title track 'Thunderous' plays on the dual meaning of being a 'noisemaker' and a 'singer', using a single term to express the message of not being discouraged by others' incessant nagging and staying true to oneself. The contrast between the 'noisemakers' who constantly nag and Stray Kids, who remain undeterred and steadfast in creating their music, is striking. The grand melody is enhanced with a variety of traditional Korean sounds, adding to the listening experience, while ad-libs like 'thunderous noise' and 'bang bang' complete Stray Kids' peak of excitement.
The group's bold and fresh style, known as the 'concept restaurant', is also worth noting. The eight members - Bang Chan, Lee Know, Changbin, Hyunjin, Han, Felix, Seungmin, and I.N - bring unstoppable energy and a witty, relaxed atmosphere, visually embodying the charm of the new song. The 'Thunderous' music video captures dynamic beauty with traditional elements like court music, folk play, and Bukcheong lion masks, and uses animation transitions and visual effects to create impactful scenes.
The album begins with the intro track 'CHEESE', followed by title track 'Thunderous', 'DOMINO', 'SSICK', 'The View', 'Sorry, I Love You', 'Silent Cry', 'Unspeakable Secret', and 'Star Lost'. It also includes unit songs 'Obsession (Bang Chan, Hyunjin)', 'Surfin’ (Lee Know, Changbin, Felix)', 'Gone Away (Han, Seungmin, I.N)', 'WOLFGANG' presented in Mnet's 'Kingdom' final competition, and the digital single 'Affection', which topped the US Billboard World Digital Song Sales chart on July 10 after its release on June 26, making a total of 14 tracks.
Led by the producing group 3RACHA (Bang Chan, Changbin, Han), all Stray Kids members contributed to the album credits, firmly establishing themselves as a self-producing group. They collaborated with renowned domestic and international writers such as VERSACHOI, Krysta Youngs, HotSauce, and Hong Ji Sang, enhancing the album's quality.
Stray Kids achieved their highest first-week sales with 'IN LIFE', and was recently ranked as the artist with the highest social indicator growth in the first half of the year among artists within four years of debut in Hanteo Chart's 'Hanteo Global K-pop Report'. The second full album 'NOEASY' not only strengthens the group's identity and upward trend but also serves as a significant milestone.
