SEVENTEEN 2nd Mini Album `BOYS BE`
In the first half of 2015, the most notable rookie SEVENTEEN returned with their second mini-album [BOYS BE]. SEVENTEEN has carved a unique niche in the boy band world with a unique group system composed of hip-hop, vocal, and performance units, and as 'self-producing idols,' with members including producer Woozi leading in the creation and planning of album tracks in terms of lyrics, composition, and performance. Moreover, their debut song 'Adore U' successfully garnered much attention and love from fans by fully showcasing the refreshing image of youth.
SEVENTEEN's second mini-album, continuing from their debut album, is described by the amorphous phrase 'BOYS BE.' It encapsulates SEVENTEEN as they are, without forced or stereotypical representation, and also captures their continuous journey towards completeness within the title 'BOYS BE.' The album is completed by adding the unique refreshing energy created when the thirteen boys are together and the infinite potential felt through their self-produced music.
The title track 'Mansae' follows SEVENTEEN's debut song 'Adore U' and is composed and written by Woozi, featuring a powerful bass riff and a unique song structure and arrangement. The excellent vocal abilities of the vocal unit, the rap of the hip-hop unit, and the choreography by the performance unit's leader Hoshi come together to create a song that showcases the joy and strength of all 13 members. The interesting development of the song 'Mansae,' which goes from shouting 'Hey, girl!' to shyly murmuring 'A flower named you has bloomed,' expresses the love of a boy with a witty sentiment as intended by SEVENTEEN.
Additionally, the album includes a total of five songs: 'Fronting' with its sophisticated beats and the impressive storytelling of the hip-hop unit, the performance unit's track 'OMG' that builds anticipation for what kind of stage will be presented with its intense EDM trap, the vocal unit's 'When I Grow Up' expressing the sadness of still clumsy emotions about love in warm R&B, and 'ROCK' with its trendy synth-pop sound and addictive chorus.
