‘FML’ is an abbreviation for the colloquial expression ‘F*ck My Life’, used when things go wrong or situations turn sour, typically to lament or blame oneself and view one's life pessimistically.
SEVENTEEN, instead of being engulfed in endless negative thoughts in unfavorable situations, adopts a healthy and positive perspective. They understand the conflicts and wanderings of youth, urging not to despair and feel pessimistic about oneself but to fight together and overcome.
This album features the double title tracks ‘F*ck My Life’ and ‘Sun Wukong’ (손오공), along with unit tracks ‘Fire’ (Hip-hop Team), ‘I Don't Understand But I Luv U’ (Performance Team), ‘Dust’ (Vocal Team), and the group track ‘April shower’, totaling 6 songs that showcase SEVENTEEN's diverse colors. Mini 10th Album [FML] marks the beginning of SEVENTEEN's new story, showcasing their confidence. For the first time since their debut, SEVENTEEN is releasing two songs as title tracks. Through the double title tracks, they aim to captivate global music fans once again with their distinct musical colors and unparalleled performances.
The first track and title song ‘F*ck My Life’ is based on an Old School hip-hop rhythm, with a sound built upon analog-sensibility reinterpreted drum sounds and contrasting chord work. The direct and honest lyrics filled with complaints like "this damn world", convey a message that accepting one's current state as it is can be a bigger comfort and hope than any vague consolation to those living through harsh realities.
The other title track ‘Sun Wukong’ contrasts ‘F*ck My Life’ with its intense Alternative Jersey club style, featuring a variety of repeating kick rhythms. Inspired by the character ‘Sun Wukong’ who upgrades himself through trials and tribulations, the song powerfully conveys SEVENTEEN's message of continuous growth and 'career highs', likening themselves to ‘Sun Wukong’.
