This 'FATAL LOVE' is filled with the thrill and suspense of watching a thriller movie. While the previous albums mainly painted keywords of empathy and comfort, this album sings about the secret and deadly seduction of a man. The storyline reminiscent of a thriller movie captivates the audience. Also noteworthy is the shift in the balance of sound and performance.
If the sharp power performances were the signature of MONSTA X, this time they charm with a relaxed yet focused allure. Maintaining their unique team color, the adventurous new style is enough to highlight this album.
The cruel and beautiful six 'Love Killa'... The irresistible charm of 'deadly love'
The title track 'Love Killa' is a song where you can feel both the intensity and the unique style of MONSTA X, representing their reasoned change and growth. It sings of the temptation of love that one wants to win over everything, stimulating the imagination visually and cinematically. The combination of dark sound and emotional melody is also impressive. Willix and Brother Su, who have worked on several MONSTA X title tracks, composed and produced, with lyrics by Seo Ji-eum, Jooheon, and I.M. The various emotions chasing deadly love create a new experience.
In the music video, the members captivate as the cruel and beautiful six 'Love Killa'. Interpreted with MONSTA X's mise-en-scène inspired by movie killer characters, contrasts of black & red, black & white highlight images of light and darkness, and emotions are subtly shown through addiction, love-hate, and deviation.
MONSTA X, which has shown high participation in each album, also contributed to the lyrics and composition of many songs this time. Jooheon, who recently released the mixtape 'Psyche', included his own songs 'BEASTMODE' and 'Stand Together', and I.M also included his self-made 'NIGHT VIEW'. DJ H. ONE, also known as Hyungwon, included 'NOBODY ELSE', participating in lyrics, composition, and production for the first time since debut, showcasing his capabilities as a producer. As each member has been expanding their territory with various activities, this album is expected to be a turning point showing MONSTA X's musical growth.
The album, packed with ten tracks, is filled with a rich scale of sound. The sensual and danceable Latin/pop genre 'Drought' delivers enjoyable emotions depicting emotional undulations, while the album's central theme 'Thriller' gives a futuristic feel with an orchestral arrangement and future sound. On the other hand, 'Guess Who' harmonizes dark and lyrical atmospheres, alongside the easy-listening genres of 'Last Carnival' and 'Sorry I’m Not Sorry', ensuring a diverse listening experience.
MONSTA X, who has been challenging every moment, will prove their reinterpreted signature, expanded style, and the aspect of an artist who has grown a step further through this album. The condensed story of the past six years will offer an exhilarating thrill like unraveling a mystery.
