IVE's latest album offers a multifaceted view of 'self' through its diverse imagery. It conveys an expanded message through three title tracks that represent oneself from different perspectives: 'Either Way' depicting oneself from others' viewpoints, 'Off The Record' reflecting the self discovered by each other, and 'BADDIE' unveiling another side of oneself discovered personally. Each track unfolds its concept fittingly to its mood and style, showcasing varied styles and moods to pique interest.
'Either Way,' one of the pre-released title tracks, sings about the constraints of being perceived through others' eyes. Starting with dreamy synths, it creates a lyrical atmosphere, with the members' emotive vocals eliciting empathy. Songwriter Sunwoo Jung-A took on the lyrics, depicting our ironic existence in modern society, where numerous misunderstandings from others lead us to seek our true selves.
Another pre-released title track, 'Off The Record,' expresses IVE's way of love in a more familiar manner. Lyricist Seo Ji-eum, who has been with IVE since the beginning, penned the lyrics that capture the story of girls curious about love during the deep, sleepless night. 'Off The Record,' with its rhythmic beat and the diverse vocal colors of the members, paints IVE's secretive nocturnal conversations with vivid emotions, especially expressing the curiosity and bold imagination only felt before becoming an adult, delivering the fun of listening and watching.
The last title track, 'BADDIE,' overturns all expectations. While conveying IVE's identity of 'self-assurance,' it presents a completely 'different me' with a cool, bold charm in a dark and compelling track. BIG Naughty participated in the lyrics writing, and the song impresses with its strong trap beats and unique electric bass sound, dominating the atmosphere with a simple yet full sound. The addictive hook and the powerful raps of the members are enough to feel a different charm of IVE never seen before.
The first mini album [I'VE MINE] unfolds an unpredictable image of infinite expansion while maintaining IVE's unique color shown so far. The underlying message remains consistent: a story about 'me,' whose inherent charm is revealed without having to hide or explicitly state my emotions. IVE's confident expressions, style that hits everyone's taste, and the ongoing stylish IVE syndrome continue.
