The rookie group FIFTY FIFTY, acclaimed for their debut album's deep musicality and diverse image, makes a comeback 100 days later with their first single album [The Beginning: Cupid], serving as a prequel to the FIFTY FIFTY universe. This album unveils the multifaceted inner world of the four girls facing a new beginning, capturing their innocent yet clumsy charm, excitement, and fear with honesty.
The album explores the gap between the desire to succeed and the reality of frequent failures, where Cupid emerges as the sole entity the girls can rely on. Cupid acts as a psychological talisman, offering comfort yet sometimes becoming the target of blame when things go awry.
As the girls transition from being passive to taking charge of their lives, they realize they no longer need Cupid. This shift signifies breaking free from subconscious dependence on Cupid, overcoming fear, and embracing change. ‘Cupid’ is a song that marks the beginning of the girls' growth journey.
‘Cupid’ starts with a retro vibe reminiscent of chanson, led by wistful vocals. The track, based on minimal disco beats and funky bass lines, gently guides listeners into Cupid's world with a blend of soft vocals and pads. The chorus part “I gave a second chance to Cupid” showcases a playful side through crisp synths and melodical piano melodies, with sweet vocals and a snappy rap section adding flavor to the song.
This single album includes three tracks: the titular track one, a Twin version with English lyrics focusing on a different mix and easy listening as track two, and the instrumental of the title track. Member Keena participated in rap making, and Saena contributed to choreography, enhancing the song's quality. The chorus features a Call & Response vocal and dance point, enriching the track's appeal. Adam von Mentzer, who produced the debut album ‘Lovin’ Me’, collaborated with several talented international producers to maintain the group's identity while exploring new musical territories.
